Building Tomorrow's Game Artists

We started Mindyo in 2019 because we saw too many talented people struggling with outdated 3D education methods. Most programs taught technical skills in isolation, but real game development needs artists who understand how lighting shapes player emotion and how textures tell stories.

Our approach came from working directly with indie studios around Slovenia and seeing what they actually needed. Not just software knowledge, but the creative problem-solving that makes games memorable.

Recognition That Matters

Last year, our student projects earned recognition at three major European game development conferences. But what makes us prouder is hearing from graduates who landed their first studio positions or launched successful indie projects.

We've built something different here. Instead of following traditional academic structures, we partnered directly with working professionals who understand current industry demands. Our curriculum evolves based on real project feedback from studios across Central Europe.

  • Featured educational partner at GameDev Slovenia 2024
  • Student work showcased at Reboot Develop 2024
  • Curriculum advisory from Outfit7 and Nanobit studios
  • Graduate placement rate above industry average
  • Recognized by European Game Development Network

What sets our graduates apart isn't just technical skill – it's their ability to think like artists while solving technical challenges. They understand how atmospheric lighting can guide player attention and how surface details create believable worlds.

Our Educational Philosophy

Learning Through Real Projects

We don't believe in theoretical exercises that never see daylight. From week three, students work on actual game environments that could ship tomorrow. This means learning to balance artistic vision with technical constraints – just like professional studios.

Our lighting modules focus on environmental storytelling. Students learn how different light temperatures affect mood, how shadow placement creates depth, and why certain texturing approaches work better for different game genres.

Each project builds toward a portfolio piece that demonstrates not just technical competency, but creative problem-solving and artistic judgment. These are the skills that get people hired and keep them growing in their careers.

Industry Connections

We maintain active relationships with studios throughout Slovenia and neighboring countries. Many of our guest lecturers are currently shipping games, bringing fresh perspectives on emerging techniques and market demands.

Continuous Innovation

Game technology evolves rapidly. We update our curriculum quarterly based on industry feedback and emerging tools. Students learn current standard practices while building skills that adapt to future changes.

Meet Our Lead Instructor

Education that works comes from people who've walked the path themselves.

From Studio Floor to Classroom

Marko spent eight years as a lighting artist at studios in Ljubljana and Prague before joining our team in 2020. He's shipped titles on multiple platforms and understands the pressure of production deadlines.

His teaching style combines practical techniques with creative exploration. Students learn industry-standard workflows while developing their own artistic voice. Marko believes the best 3D artists are problem solvers first – they find creative solutions when hardware limitations or time constraints demand compromises.

"Every lighting setup tells a story," he often tells students. "Your job is making sure it's the right story for that game."
